Disposable, prefilled pod or refillable: which fits you

The three device types we sell, what each costs to run, and who each one suits.

5 minute read

Adult customers ask us this more than anything else. The answer depends on how often you vape, how much you want to spend over a month, and whether you want to refill anything.

Disposables

Prefilled and sealed. Most now recharge over USB-C, so the battery is not what runs out; the e-liquid is. Big puff counts like 25K or 35K are makers' maximums. Boost modes and long draws use liquid faster.

  • Nothing to set up or refill
  • Highest cost per puff
  • The most flavor choice, but most flavored disposables lack FDA authorization

Prefilled pod systems

A rechargeable device plus sealed pods you replace. Vuse Alto, JUUL and NJOY Ace work this way, and these are the lines with FDA marketing orders. Flavor choice is limited to tobacco and, for some, menthol.

Refillable pod kits

A device like the Vaporesso XROS 6 with pods you fill from a bottle. It costs more up front and takes a little care, but it is the cheapest to run and lets you choose your own liquid and strength.
